High Grand Falls

The Dam will have a water reservoir with a water holding capacity of 5600 million cubic meters that will strategically benefit the people of Embu, Kitui, and Tharaka Nithi Counties.

The dam will have some of the widest components catering for power generation, irrigation development, flood management, and portable water supply.

The Dam is anticipated to facilitate about 400,000 acres for Irrigation with approximately 10 million ³ of water and generate up to 1000MW of hydropower.

Principal Secretary for Irrigation Ephantus Kimotho,CBS, today chaired a consultative breakfast meeting on the proposed High Grand Falls dam in Tana River County.

The meeting that was attended by the main stakeholders (State Department for Irrigation, State Department for Water,State Department for Engery and GBM  Consortium) sought to engage all stakeholders for the successful implementation of the dam project.

Present were officers from NIA led by the CEO Eng. Charles Muasya,MBS,  GBM Consortium led by the Director  Michael Shorts, Representative from the State Department for Irrigation, Water & Sanitation,  Energy, Ketraco and Kengen
