MEETING WITH AL-DAHRA
The Principal Secretary for Irrigation, CPA Ephantus Kimotho, CBS, today hosted a delegation from Al-Dahra led by the Director of Growth, Mr. Hisham Elihifnawi, alongside a team from the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) led by CEO Eng. Charles Muasya, MBS, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Kenya and Al-Dahra for the expansion of the Galana–Kulalu Food Security Project to cover 200,000 acres under irrigation. The session aimed to align key stakeholders on the next steps toward full-scale project implementation.
Both teams agreed to institutionalize monthly review meetings to monitor progress and facilitate timely decision-making. The discussions also emphasized the importance of data sharing and coordination across other major irrigation projects—including Bura and Lower Nzoia—to enhance integrated planning and resource optimization for the Galana–Kulalu Food Security Project.
