Kenya Water Security and Climate Resilience Project
There is inadequate water and sanitation coverage in Busia, Siaya, Nakuru, Nyandarua, Kwale and Mombasa Counties.
Water Security and climate resilience are critical issues for Kenya, given that its people and economy are highly vulnerable to erratic climatic patterns and limited water availability.
KWSCRP-1 is being implemented through 3 components; i.e. Water Resources Development; Effective Water Sector Institutions and Support for Project Implementation in an effort to build water security and climate resilience for economic growth and improved social well-being.
The project targets to benefit households in Lower Nzoia by deploying a canal based irrigation system serving 4,000 Ha. Additionally, the project will strengthen the enabling institutional and legal framework to sustainably advance Kenya’s vast water sector investment program in order to achieve water security and climate resilience.
